The problem we're solving.
In 2024, we surveyed the landscape of online image tools. The results were disappointing: every major compressor, every format converter, every metadata stripper uploaded your files to external servers. Your vacation photos. Your product mockups. Your confidential documents that happened to be images.
The justification was always the same: “We need server-side processing for performance.” But that stopped being true around 2020, when WebAssembly became fast enough to run professional image codecs at native speeds inside a browser tab.
We built zeropng to prove a point: you can have professional-grade image tools that are fast, free, and private by architecture, not just by policy. When your files never leave your device, there's nothing to breach, nothing to sell, nothing to worry about.
